Pekka Roine joined Prime Technology Ventures in 1999 as a founding General Partner, and converted to Senior Advisor in 2003. Pekka has 30 years of operational, technology and management experience.
Pekka was the chairman of Solid in 1996-2002. Solid, a Finnish company headquartered in Silicon Valley, provides a unique distributed data management and synchronization technology. He was the chairman of VistaCom in 1995-2002, a Finnish company in video conferencing hardware and software. He was the chairman of Buscom and Idesco, two RFID companies in Oulu, Finland, as well as a board member of AudioSoft, a breakthrough audio distribution company based in Switzerland and France, and Metorex International, a security and analyzer equipment company in Finland. He also was a founder and director of the Health On the Net foundation, a global healthcare web initiative based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Previously, Pekka held senior executive positions at Digital Equipment Corporation for 22 years. As President Finland, he led the profitable growth of the Finnish subsidiary from 1 to 100 people in 1972-1981 and from 100 to 500 people and €180 million in sales in 1983-1992. He then was the worldwide director for the Travel and Transportation Industry in 1992-1994.
Pekka, who is based in Switzerland, works broadly in both the Nordic and the international technology and business communities. He holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Physics from the University of Helsinki. He is also a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program.
