After first qualifying for Trust Services certification in 2003, Siennax has again met the set accreditation requirements. Siennax once again complies with the Trust Services standards as drawn up by the AICPA with regard to the Security and Availability of relevant services within its Utility Computing Platform. The audit was performed by Deloitte & Touche Enterprise Risk Services, and involved testing the existence and functionality of Siennax' policies, processes and procedures that guarantee the availability of Siennax' systems.
Trust Services comprises a set of “controls” in the area of Security, Availability, Processing Integrity, Online Privacy and Confidentiality, which must be adhered to by the audited entity. For each individual control, the entity must have implemented a formal policy and detailed procedures that meet or exceed the entity's commitments to its clients. Policy and procedures must have been communicated to users and employees. Finally, the entity must maintain an internal quality control system that monitors actual compliance, and signals necessary renewal of policy and procedures.
The Trust Services Principles and Criteria have been developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA) and the Canadian Institute for Chartered Accountants (CICA) . For further information, go to: http://www.aicpa.org/assurance/trustservices/index.asp
Internationally, ASPs accept the Trust Services standards as a sound quality basis for the operational and security parameters for the ASP infrastructure. This is because the applied standards have material content, distinguishing them in a positive sense from standards geared exclusively to testing whether the supplier complies with quality rules that he has drawn up in himself.
Compliance with the Trust Services standards, and having such audited by an independent party, give customers the assurance that the computer systems of the ASP are highly secure and that the agreed availability levels can indeed be realised.
