www.flySN.com, powered by Tridion, voted “Belgium’s best website”, wins CMS-Award 2005

Brussels, 27 October, 2005

Independent jury and public agree: website has “Best Layout”, “Best Structure” and overall is “best Belgian website powered by a content management system”

Tridion, the recognised European leader in content management solutions, today congratulated its customer SN Brussels Airlines on being voted “the best website in Belgium” by a jury of independent experts and more than 1.000 members of the public. The airline, which uses Tridion’s market leading web content management software, was chosen as the clear winner from amongst more than 100 entrants for the CMS-Award 2005, presented last night at the prestigious seventh annual “Night of the Internet” event in Brussels.

New website implementations based on a content management system were judged by an expert jury against three criteria – Layout, Content and Structure – and then short-listed as award nominees. Other nominees using Tridion’s content management software, were Agfa and Daikin. Since 15th September, the general public has been able to vote for the best site via the CMS-Channel website.

SN Brussels Airlines’ website – http://www.flysn.com/– is the overall winner and and came top in the Layout and Structure categories. The company, which offers more than 285 punctual flights per day to destinations in Europe, Africa and the USA, developed its new Tridion-powered website to build competitive advantage in its home market and increase its share of the African and European air travel markets.

Christian Daems, managing consultant at CMS-Channel, and chairman of the expert jury, said: “Following on from the inaugural WebOlympics award last year, there was a lot of competition for this year’s CMS-Award. The SN Brussels Airlines site easily won over the expert jury with its highly professional execution, and excellent layout and structure.   We congratulate all those involved in producing and maintaining the site – SN Brussels Airlines, Emakina, and Tridion.”

Bruno Brusselmans, Director of E-Business & Contact Centre units at SN Brussels Airlines commented: “Our website has proven to be a great success with customers, thanks to the consistent structure, layout and tight integration of content and flight data across all of the 16 languages we offer. We’re now taking over 25,000 online bookings per month, which represents a  massive increase compared with the old site. We’re absolutely delighted to have won the CMS-Award, which wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work put in by my team and by our implementation partner Emakina, or without the solid CMS technology provided by Tridion.”

SN Brussels Airlines chose Tridion both for its proven experience in the airline industry, and for its capability to ensure branding consistency across multiple websites in multiple languages.   It also needed a highly flexible, future proof technological platform to ensure it could meet its growth targets in the long term.

One of the key advantages of Tridion’s technology, according to Brusselmans, is its BluePrinting capability, which makes it very easy for the company to update its websites or launch new sites. “The ongoing maintenance costs of the site are minimal, even though we make major changes to the content almost every week with new offers and pricing. Best of all, however, we can now launch a new site in just a few hours – we literally only have to write the content and translate it, as there is no need to do any programming.”

Ronny Kenens, Director of Tridion Belgium, added: “The SN Brussels Airlines website is a fantastic example of the multi-lingual and brand-control capabilities of Tridion’s content management system. The rise in online bookings as a result of the new site also clearly shows the impact of targeted online communication – something that we and our partners specialise in. We congratulate them on winning this prestigious award!”
